*My Story
- I am
Compassionate and giving and strive to live within Integrity
Strengthen by my Hope and Faith in my Creator
Committed to my family and friends … and above all to my personal growth.
Passionate about promoting individual self-fulfillment which will lead to healthier relationships.- I earn my daily bread
Facilitating educational and preventive Alcohol/Drug groups for Napa Co Health and Human Services. Also in my role as Bilingual Student and Family Support Services at Calistoga Jr/SR High School I advocate for youth and their families by connecting them with needed resources. I empower youth to take responsibility for their choices, by promoting higher education and diversity. I aim to get them excited about their future about their community, society and the endless possibilities that they can achieve. I model acceptance and commitment to community by getting involved in various community projects which has encouraged students to be more active in their community.
- How my leadership has changed as a result of OTV
I have learned to accept my failures with grace and convert them into stepping stones. I no longer dread change; I embrace it. I can’t say that I don’t get anxious about the unknown, but I now have the courage to take a risk and a community of dedicated professionals from which to draw upon. These passionate leaders have demonstrated the art of “feeling” and have modeled the benefits being Real with in a work environment. I have re-defined my thinking… Being emotional is not weak! Strength only exists through Humility. I have experienced compassion and love with strangers and have bared witness that passion, kindness and hope are infectious.
- Where I’ve come from and where I expect to be in the next 3-5 years
I have been considered a leader by many for years, at an early age I got involved within the church and from there it came naturally to be active in clubs, sports and all sorts of events. Despite the joy and satisfaction I received from being involved, it became more of a role I took on, and I never truly viewed myself as a leader, I was just giving back, it was my duty. After all the sacrifices my mother and a millions other parents have made to give us the opportunity of success, it was the least I can do. I am in the process of discovering my power. I have embraced leadership and truly believe that it is my Purpose. I am no longer afraid of it and have naturally stepped into more leadership roles.
