*My Story

I am

A Mexican-American woman who is caring, intelligent, giving, strong, loyal, committed to my family and my community, determined to make a difference.

I earn my daily bread

As a Program Director for Parent-Child Advocacy Network, I mentor families of children with disabilities, offering them hope and support to be successful advocates for the needs of their children and family.  I provide a voice for these families and children in my community in hopes that one day we live in a society that values all of its members for their abilities and not for what their lacking.

How my leadership has changed as a result of OTV

I now realize that my leadership does not involve being in the front of the room all the time but it lies in my ability to use my strengths to empowering others in order to continue moving forward. I have learned that in order to achieve greatly I must risk greatly. In this risk I must me willing to question myself and others, to turn every experience into a lesson, in order to always act and live with intention. OTV challenged me to bring my voice forward, a risk that does not come easily for me, but in doing so I allow myself and others to learn and grow.
