*My Story

I am

A spiritual, resilient, enthusiastic and powerful Filipino American Woman.

I earn my daily bread

By working towards a Masters Degree in Social Work at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and by interning at the Honolulu Family Court as a Parent Facilitator.

How my leadership has changed as a result of OTV

I am now more confident in speaking in front of groups because of the experiences I had in OTV. I also do not fear being vocal about my goals and dreams as well as my strengths. OTV offered an opportunity for me to learn how to be more authentic and real for my current and future social work practice.

Where I’ve come from and where I expect to be in the next 3-5 years

My passion for social work has its roots in the legacy of my grandmothers who wanted to be educators but were unable to because of hardships in the Philippines. My family is currently in Los Angeles and I am resilient and strong because of them. Before starting Graduate school I worked with foster youth and teenagers throughout the Bay Area. In the next 3-5 years I will be working with Child Protective Services in order to empower and strengthen families as well as to make an impact on the Child Welfare system in Hawaii.
