I have never posted a blog before and it is somewhat unfortunate that I am doing so on a day when I am utterly frustrated with my work in public high school. Often times it is the common opinion to see education as underfunded and over focused on abstract assessment. While these are true concerns, my overwhelming sense is one of a leadership vacuum.
I am lucky I have a fantastic boss but to see the both of us today pass eachother in the halls looking like two overdone grilled cheese sandwhiches, draggin ass to the next meeting, one does not wonder why people leave this field.
But all is not as bad as it seems one of my students said I was his favorite today and I will be back tomorrow. Peace

Burn Out and Leadership
Casey, what do you see as the connection between burn out and a leadership vacuum? How could effective leadership help sustain you?
Yes, Casey, it is no wonder
Yes, Casey, it is no wonder teachers leave the field, that the vacuum of nonprofit leaders coming and staying in the field is growing by the day. Finding a way, hopefully through OTV, to help sustain people in this work is what I am working toward... and finding a way for us "seasoned" folks to bring in and bring up, and sustain new young leaders is fundamental. Some of the articles in this site might really interest you. Did yo see the latest one one OTV in the GEO Newsletter?
