Foster Youth Aging Out and Asserting Their Independence

  • V.O.I.C.E.S. is the first youth led center of its kind
  • Ten founding members – recently emancipated foster youth – worked intensively to open the center in November 2005
  • Serves youth between the ages of 16 and 22, approaching and following emancipation
  • On-site direction and coordination provided by a team of three of OTM’s young leaders (Vergers)
  • Employs 10 recently emancipated foster youth as staff in various capacities
  • Foster emancipation center is supported by a Directors Circle of executive leaders from 37 agencies
  • Co-located staff from 25 agencies provide a range of services
  • 300+ volunteers to date
